We (Anna and Abby) would like to welcome you to VARIANT!
We also want to offer you some more information about why we chose this theme.
What does it mean to be VARIANT?
We gave VARIANT two meanings.
Being VARIANT is something God calls us to.
Why is being VARIANT important?
Why is it God calls us to be VARIANT?
So how has being VARIANT impacted our lives?
We gave VARIANT two meanings.
- First, it’s an acronym, standing for
- Second, the actual meaning of the word ‘variant’, which is: “A form of something that differs from other forms of the same thing or a standard.” (That’s a condensed version of the online definition)
- To be a person who is variant is to differ from other people in some respect, and from the standards of other people. You are set apart. You don’t just go with the crowd- you’re VARIANT!
Being VARIANT is something God calls us to.
- First of all, because God made us that way. We are all unique and different, with a vast array of talents and characteristics.
- And secondly, sometimes it can be hard to to wade against the current that is our society. There has always been sin and lawlessness in this world, but God wants us to commit ourselves into his hands so He can cover our faults. God wants us to honor His commandments and to share His gift of Salvation with others. Sometimes this means being different from the rest of our culture though, and saying no to things that other people deem fine.
- Third, the Bible tells us that--as Christians--we are born again in Christ. We become new creations, making us different.
Why is being VARIANT important?
Why is it God calls us to be VARIANT?
- It’s the only way we can truly be His lights in the world. Think about it. If we act and speak the exact same way as non-Christians, we’re being hypocrites, and we’re not spreading God’s truth, but are instead just helping to spread sin. You cannot claim to believe one thing then act against those beliefs, then expect people to be won over to your belief.
- It’s testimony to the sincerity of our faith. Again, we can’t claim faith but go on sinning, and still believe ourselves saved. True faith requires us to be VARIANT. It’s simply not possible to be a new creation but also your same sinful self at the same time.
- To sum it up: To be VARIANT and to be Christian are synonymous!
So how has being VARIANT impacted our lives?
- Well, through it, God has shown us that we should share our convictions and findings with others.
Also, here are some verses that we feel apply well to this theme.
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good, and acceptable, and perfect." Romans 12:2
"If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." John 15:19
"For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you." 2nd Corinthians 1:12
"They are not the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As you sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth." John 17:16-19
That's why we're proud to say, "I am VARIANT."

"Modern Christians hope to save the world by being like it, but it will never work. The church's power over the world springs out of her unlikeness to it, never from her integration into it." -A.W. Tozer
